The Wildflower Project

This project has been a year long quest to establish a perennial wildflower garden to attract pollinators, which are vital to our ecosystem. My vision was to give them an area to thrive and then paint and photograph them.

This process began shortly after we finished building our home in November 2018 with the clearing of brush and weeds. In late March, I tilled the area and sowed the seeds. We then enjoyed a good bit of waiting, watching and planning while it had time to grow and attract pollinators.

With the completion of this painting, it brings my vision full circle. This piece, 12 Pollinators, is the first in a series that I am planning over the next few years. This has been an incredible experience and I’m excited to get started on the next one.
